The rumored signing of Metta World Peace by the Lakers in the past months finally took action when they announced the signing of the 36 years old NBA veteran World Peace.
The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly signed Metta World Peace to one year non-guaranteed contract, which means that Metta would be at least participating in the LA Lakers training camp and pre-season games that will took place on Hawaii.
The Lakers first thought of signing World Peace when they saw how he and Julius Randle battle it out in the Lakers practice facility. They saw the mentoring opportunity in Metta that may impact the young players of the Los Angeles Lakers.
They did not want to sign Metta World Peace for his on court playing time, but rather for his practice mentoring and locker room time. He can be as vocal as his close friend Kobe Bryant who was his teammate during their 2010 Championship run where both played a major role as starters for the team.
Metta World Peace can surely help on mentoring those young Lakers squad especially on the defensive side of the court, where he is surely a specialist. Metta is known not only for his hot headed approach, but also for his great defense and physical approach that wears most players.
Playing or mentoring, adding a veteran player like Metta World Peace will surely help the Lakers as they make, the likely last season of Kobe Bryant, worth watching.
