Gilas Profiles : Lewis Alfred Tenorio

LA, as his fans and colleague call him, started showing signs of becoming a star back on his early days at Don Bosco Makati. He was just 12 years old playing for a game watched by PBA audience, facing a much talented team Ateneo Grade School’s Small Basketeer Team, he didn't mind the pressure; he just played his game and finished it scoring a game high 31 points in just 21 minutes.

In his high school days, he was considered as a star in the making. He joined Adamson's basketball team, but was then transferred into San Beda and lead his team to a title on his junior year.

In his collegiate career, he decided to join the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles basketball team. He instantly made a name, leading his team to the finals in his rookie year, but losses to the De La Salle University Manila. He then led his team again to the finals, winning the title in one of it, and got his sweet revenge to the De La Salle University in their second finals matchup. They lose to the Far Eastern University on his third straight finals appearance.

In his pursuit of becoming a pro basketball player, he joined an amateur basketball league in the form of the PBL (Philippine Basketball League). Then again he leads his team, the Harbour Centre Portmasters, to a PBL title before joining the PBA draft.

His have met his goal on becoming a pro basketball player when he has been drafted 4th overall by the San Miguel Beermen in the 2006 PBA draft. He has been chosen to be a part of the PBA all-rookie team in his time with the Magnolia. Then in the search of the Alaska Aces for a pure point guard to compliment the scoring game of their star Willie Miller, they found LA Tenorio and offered a trade to the Magnolia and got an approval immediately.

On 2010, he led his team to the PBA fiesta conference title and won the finals MVP award alongside his teammate Cyrus Baguio, he was also been awarded the PBA most improve player of the year.

In the year of 2012, Tenorio got biggest of all of his awards yet, winning the tournament’s MVP award at the William Jones Cup in Taipei.

Winning the award makes his name booming back in the Philippines. That makes a way for the most famous ball club in the Philippines, Brgy. Ginebra, to try and get him. Since then he has been a player for the Ginebra winning the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference Award, but never have yet won a title with the team.

LA's bag of award includes UAAP Men's Basketball Champion, UAAP Mythical Team, PBA All-Rookie Team, PBA Most Improved Player, 2 time PBA Mythical First Team, PBA Fiesta Conference Co-Final's MVP (with Cyrus Baguio), 6 time PBA All-Star, William Jones Cup Finals MVP, PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference Award. 2 time most Assist, and Most Minutes Played.
