The Miami Heat signs a former Talk n' Text import Keith Benson.
Benson played for the Talk n' Text Tropang Texters averaging 23.6 points while grabbing almost sixteen rebounds per game and blocking more than two shots.
Benson's professional career is well traveled; he played professional basketball on eight different countries.
He is the first ever NBA draftee from Oakland University. He is a big body on the shaded area, a great shot blocker, and a decent rebounder.
Benson's professional basketball career started when the Atlanta Hawks drafted him 48th overall, but ended up playing his first game with the Banco di Sardegna Sassari in Italy prior to the NBA lockout that happened last 2011, He played only four games with them averaging 5.5 points while grabbing almost six rebound per game, then exited his contract in Italy two months after, when the lockout ended, and played for the Atlanta Hawks for two games averaging two points, more than a rebound, more than a block, and a steal in the preseason, but then got waived before the regular season began.
He has then been acquired by the Sioux Falls Skyforce, he played 20 games with them and started 19 of it. He averages 15.2 points while grabbing almost eight rebounds and blocking more than a shot per game that catches the attention of the Golden State Warriors that to him being signed to a ten day contract, He played only three games for them with no other stats than a rebound a game.
In the summer of 2012, he played for the Atlanta Hawks NBA summer league team. He started all of the five games that he played, his 13 points, six rebounds, and 2 blocks per game got him to be signed a non-guaranteed regular season contact, but then again got waived without playing any regular season game.
He has then been acquired again by the Sioux Falls Skyforce, but then got traded immediately to the Erie Bayhawks for Mike Davis. He played 24 games averaging 10 points, 6.58 rebounds, and 1.68 blocks per game before being bought out by the Talk n' Text Tropang Texters (Philippines).
After just five games the Talk n' Text replaced him with Donnell Harvey.
In the summer of 2013 he played for both the Brooklyn and Charlotte, and later signed with the Tsmoki-Misnk of Belarus for three season tournament, averaging 15.57, 17.33, and 15.33 points per game for the three season tournaments.
He then again chases an NBA spot, this time for the Los Angeles Clippers summer league team. Again averaging a decent amount of points, rebounds, and blocks.
After that he goes overseas again and played for the Banvit in Turkey, but parted ways with it again after just a little under two months. He then signed with the Neptunas of Lithuania for the rest of 2014-15 seasons. His averages for his 26 suited up games are, 5.92 PPG and 3.27 RPG.
After the stint in Lithuania, he continued his carreer in Estonia, playing for BC Kalev/Cramo.
And on this year before signing with the Miami Heat, he played for the Orlando Magic's summer leauge team.
