The Philippines FIBA team also known as the Gilas are surely one to take notes on because of what they showed last FIBA world back in Spain. They only won 1 of their five games but on every game they give out their all, as to their shout out PUSO (Heart), to give their opponents a run for their money.
They are known for fighting hard and not giving up, putting everything that they have got to win. All of their games can be sort on the solid outings column That is how they had made their name. They surely climbed up the ladder in the FIBA rankings.
But, the team now is very different from the team that everyone notices back in Spain. They got a different coach; they have lost some quality players since FIBA Spain. They have to start over in the team chemistry section, they have to learn new plays that the new coaching applies.
With that mentioned, they also needed to be back in action September 23 for the FIBA Asia tournament that will be held in China.
In the preparation for that they have joined the Toyota Tallinn four nation cup, and lost every one of those 3 outings they have had in the invitational tournament.
Netherlands crushed them 89-62 in their first game. The host Estonia was their second opponent, again the Gilas was defeated 90 - 80. For the third and final game, they have to face Iceland; the Philippine squad manages to lead up to seven points in the third quarter only to be giving up a ten points loss 86 - 76.
Gilas are far from what they have accomplished in Spain. They have to gather themselves and work like they supposed to. Work like what they did back in Spain. Work like this:
